5. Dec 22,  · I do have the Kilburn and the High-Roads "Handsome" CD, but I'm not expert (or fan) enough to know about "Vidiot" or "Flunky Jive". Sorry. I have walked up the actual Kilburn High Road (in London, NW6) though. It will be interesting to see how many Kilburn and the High-Roads .

Even if you're very familiar with the wit and style of their leader, Ian Dury, through his solo recordings, the Kilburns' lone album, Handsome, will still sound a little strange since the alternately sly and brutal attack of the Blockheads isn't here -- in its place is a puffed-up, campy theatricality, complete with Rocky Horror-esque backing female vocals, that amazingly still feels punk, partially because of its sheer, unhinged, Price: $

7. Coming to the attention of Pye Records, the band was signed to its Dawn imprint in with the album Handsome following a year later, by which point the Kilburn’s had disbanded. Their lone 45, ‘Rough Kids’ b/w ‘Billy Bentley (Parades Himself In London)’ proved inspirational, with Sex Pistol Glen Matlock citing it as influential.

8. Jun 28,  · Kilburn And The High Roads and I had Madness sussed. Wow, I knew The Nutty Boys had some different influences, but this was completely their sound and the song that hipped me to this was "Rough Kids" that appeared on a "Mojo" CD that I think, was .

One of the more interesting cases was Ian Dury’s first band Kilburn & the High neyverheysamounvetalpwerwietropomtrat.xyzinfo after the main thoroughfare in Kilburn (ie, the ancient Kilburn High Road), an area of north London known at the time for having large Irish and black populations, the band was formed while Dury was still a lecturer at the Canterbury College of Art.
